Kithen Towel Toppers

Every year I like to use one of my hobbies to make up some gifts for my co-workers, just to spread some Christmas cheer. This year I settled on kitchen towels with crocheted toppers for the ladies and home baked cookies for the men (men are too easy). I knew the theme in a few of the ladies' kitchens so I knew what type of towel to use, the rest I just sort of felt out. Each got a set of two coordinating towels. I searched through several patterns before I found one that I liked.

Braided Scarf

My sweet, sweet, sweet Mommy has made me a few scarves in my life time, and each time I wear one of them, I always think of her when I put them on. And then again through out the day when I get tons of compliments on them. I always brag how my mother made them for me and I wear them with pride and love. One particular scarf was a favorite of my managers and she had make a comment that she would like to order a replica of it from me...instead I whipped one up and gave it to her as a Christmas present. So now when I see her wear it, I'll think of Mommy again! :) Sorry it's not the best of pictures (I was lacking a model).

New Beginnings Scarf

Made this scarf for my Nana as a Christmas present. I have decided if I'm going to make a matching hat or not. Stay tuned to find out :)

Snowmen Birthdays

Perhaps I should say snowwomen since these cakes were made for two lady co-workers who's birthdays were in December. Each scarf has the birthday girl's first initial although you may not be able to see it. "S" for Stacey and "L" for Lyndsi. The scarves are made from fondant and the noses are candy corn, the rest is buttercream frosting. This is my first all over star tipped cake - the hand definitely get tired. lol

Doggie Sweater 1

The holidays are coming up soon and the weather is getting colder. With all the hustle to plan holiday dinners and finding the perfect gift for all of your friends and loved ones, don't forget about the ones who are always by your side loving you no matter what...your pet! Some people say that it's torture to animals to "force" them to wear clothing. However, I say that if they look cute, and they ain't complaining, why the heck not?? I stitched up this little sweater here for the colder days (although they are few and far between here in AZ) which my little angel, Honey, is modeling. Doesn't she look so cozy?

Doggie Sweater 2

In addition to the first sweater I made, I made these for the more not so cold days, but are on the brisk side. I guess you could call these "sweater vests" since they don't have any sleeves. lol Honey is wearing the purple, and lil Sedona is in the pink. Don't they make such cute models? :) Click here for the pattern.

Mardi Gras Birthday

I attempted to do a Mardi Gras themed cake for my "cake mentor", Diane's, birthday. But I ran out of time so it wasn't as extreme as I was hoping. My sister found the glasses at a party store so we used them at as a cake topper.

Baseball Birthday

I made this cake for a co-worker, Justin, even though he hates when we make a big deal out of his birthday, lol. He did chuckle a bit, though, when I brought out the cake and he saw that it was a baseball...he loves the Arizona Diamondbacks. Happy Birthday Justin!

Happy Halloween

I had a little house party this year for Halloween and wanted to make a themed cake...unfortunately I got behind on the cleaning and errands that I didn't get the chance to spend as much time or care as I wanted to with the cake so the "pumkin" cake I had in mind wasn't as "pumkin-y" as I wanted but, noone really cared. lol Maybe next year, huh?

Grandma Dewey's Birthday Cake

My great-grandmother's birthday was actually in September, but she was out of town at that time and then the wedding/honeymoon came so the cake was a little delayed. Sorry Grandma! I hate to say that this was a little bit of a rush job since I started the cake pretty much after I got home from the wedding reception of the last cake, and I was beat!! But grandma was so sweet, she loved it anyways. This was actually a joint effort between me and my sister, Anna. She baked it from scratch, and then I decorated it. Thanks Sissy!

My 2nd Wedding Cake

Made this for my coworker and friend Cyndi and her husband's wedding to remarry in the Mormon Temple. Three tiers of white cake with buttercream frosting and cream cheese with strawberries filling. Silk rose flowers cascading around the cake.

Flower Basket Cake

I just completed Course II of Wilton Cake Decorating today and this was my final project: a basket of flowers. I did a slight different version than that of the lessons, which called for more of a spring-y look and I wanted to lean more towards an autumn appearance. But I'm partial to this cake...especially due to some difficulties with the cake that shall remain unspoken due to I don't feel like crying again! lol No but seriously, this cake was a lot of fun to make. It is a spice cake with buttercream frosting and royal icing flowers. I'm going to be saving it for my coworkers on Monday. I also heard that Monday or Tuesday is supposed to be the first day of fall so I guess the color theme is about right, huh?

Happy Birthday, Stefanie!

Today is one of my best friend's birthday. Of all people, I just have to make something special for Stefanie! Stef's gotta a thing for frogs, last time I checked, anyways...so I made a made a frog and lily pad themed cake for her.

For a birthday present, I whipped up one of my tote bags, but I decided to try something a little different on this one. I'm not sure if you can tell from the pics but this one is almost 1/2 the size bigger than the original...almost the size of an overnight bag. Stef also has these cute butterfly tattoos on her wrists that partially inspired me for this purse (check out the liner).
And you can't give a birthday present without giving a birthday card...well you can, but where's the fun in that? Especially if you enjoy making the cards yourself, like I do! I topped off the ensemble with this stary card.

Happy Birthday, Sweets! hope it was as special as you are to me!

Meriah's Hobby B-day Cake

My coworker/friend of mine requested a birthday cake for her daughter, Meriah. She requested a heart cake with pompoms and ballet slippers and left the rest to me. I originally had no idea as to how I was going to create these objects but in the end I think I was able to pull it off. My favorite part about the whole cake was when I delivered it to my friend and she hugged me sooooo tight...I think she liked it. lol

My first Wedding Cake

Wow, I finally did it...a wedding cake! an old friend of mine was married yesterday and they had asked me to do the cake...I was excited at first then the closer it got to the time to deliver, the more nervous I got. I was a wreck by the time I got to the church. lol Anyway, the bride had asked for a sage bow because all of the decorations included sage bows. It was really cute (I actually think I got a few ideas for my own wedding from theirs...48 days to go by the way!! lol) Anyways, while this was fun to do, it was also a learning experience which I deffinitely use for the next time. Everyone said that they liked it...I so hope they did!

Congrats to Ryan and Laura, the happy couple!

Polka Dot Tiered Cake and decorations

One of my niece's, Gabbie, first birthday was on July 29th and the theme was polka dots, polka dots, and more polka dots.

This is my first tiered cake! I can't believe how easy it was to do, I was so nervous, though. He he. This cake's three tiers measured (from bottom up), 10"x3", 8"x3", and 6"x3". Polka dot ribbon was wrapped around the bottoms of each tier and then used as a bow topper for the top of the cake. The cake is covered in marshmellow fondant with fondant polka dots. The cake itself was Rainbow Chip Cake so when you cut it, there were more polka dots! Well kinda.
But the polka dots didn't stop there...no way. Using my wonderful Cricut, we cut out a few hundred circles and put them up all over the living room and dining room for the decorations. This is something I highly recomment for a party when funds are tight. It made such an awesome impact with minimum costs. The party was a success. Happy Birthday my little Sweet Pea!

Reversable Halter Style Apron

I've been wanting to make an apron for long time but have been searching for the perfect pattern to do it with. I found it thanks to Tenth Muse Studios! You can check out the blog at http://www.tenthmusestudios.wordpress.com/. I simply loooove this pattern. It is a reversible apron styled like a halter dress to make you feel fun and flirty in the kitchen. I went straight for the heels the first time I put this on. My fiance can't wait for me to make dinner in this....in fact he just wants me to wear it all of the time. lol And so do I. :)
Here's the black with white polka dots side with red accents:
