Grandma's Birthday Ball of Yarn Cake

Made this for my grandma's birthday for tomorrow. She has inspired me on many occaisions with her crafts. She does amazing work...plus I just love her so much! Happy Birthday, Grandma Karen! I love you :)

Corse III Complete!

Just finished my last week of Wilton's Course III in cake decorating. We were instructed to create a tiered cake and incorporate stuff that we learned during the course. These flowers are poinsettias and the cake has been sprinkled in glitter. I know, it seems more appropriate for Christmas, than March, but who cares? :)

My Soup Bowl

So my work is "going green" and have announced that they will no longer be providing the styrofoam cups, plates, bowls, etc. I think it's kinda cool actually that we are taking this step as a company, plus it gave me another opportunity to head off to As You Wish and get my creativity on!!! I made me a special soup bowl to bring to work for those microwave luunches. Can't wait to take it in and make all of the other bowls jealous. lol :)

Grandma Birthdays

My Grandma Karen's birthday is tomorrow and my Nana's birthday is in a few weeks. My sister and I decided to make their presents this year which brought us back to our new addiction, As You Wish!! For my grandma's present, I made a spoon rest, complete with little lady bugs:
For Nana's present, because she can't seem to get enough plants, :), I made her a flower pot with polka dots:
Can't wait to give them. :)

Star Pattern

I just finished making one of these for a project that I'm currently working on and just had to share it as it was incredibly easy and only took about 5 minutes to make...maybe less. I'll post my finished project soon so check back for that. Anyways, click here for the link. Thanks to Rachel at the Crochet Spot for sharing this pattern!

Present Wrapped with Bow Cake

Just finished week 2 of Wilton's Course 3 of Cake Decorating. We all had to make a cake that looked like a present complete with a bow. I had so much fun doing this cake as I have been wanting to make a present cake for a while now. I wound up taking it over to my sister's house for her and her roommates to all eat. I'm so glad to be back in class again. :) We also learned how to do the fondant roses so I'll be practicing that this week.

As You Wish

So I've recently found a new hobby, maybe an addiction...same difference, right? I've kinda known about this place for a while but only recently decided to try it out. As You Wish is a "pottery painting place" where you may pick a piece of pre-designed pottery (anything from a bowl to a photo frame to a piggy bank to a dip dish to anything else on the shelf) and you get to paint it yourself any way you like. Then the nice people of As You Wish will glaze and fire the piece for you in a kiln. And just a few short days later, you get to take it home to keep.
I've gone 3 times in the last month simply 'cause I can't keep away!! It's so fun and inspiring, and even my family is getting involved. The first time I went, I was with my nieces and sister, the 2nd time I enjoyed painting with my husband, who surrisingly enjoyed himself quite a bit. ha ha
Here are my first two pieces that I've done, both I had made into magnets:

I haven't finished my third piece yet so be sure to check back soon to see what else I've been working on. Be sure to check out their site and, if your in The Valley of the Sun, be sure to check out one of their locations for yourself. You'll be glad ya did.
