Layla Baby Blanket
These days, baby showers can be full blown out parties with music, games, and loads of food. Sometimes it's easy to forget what the real purpose of the gathering is. And that is to "shower" the mother-to-be with gifts for the little one. When my high school best friend, Nicole, announced that she and her husband were having ther first child, a little girl, I wanted to give them something from the heart, and what can be more from the heart than something not only "traditional" but hand made? Along with a couple pairs of booties, I crocheted this baby blanket for little Layla Nicole. It measures approx. 53" inches sq. (Pictured is my niece, Gabby.) If you would like to order one for yourself, send your request to pinkdragonflyorders@yahoo.com. The cost is $80 (plus s/h); please allow 4 weeks time minimum for this item.

More Mother's Day cupcakes
Cupcakes are becoming very popular for special occasions because they can be personalized individually, provide perfect serving portions, and just are so darn cute! About a week ago, I posted that I was practicing designing cupcakes for Mother's Day. I wanted to share with you all what I wound up doing in the end.
Flap bag
This is my new design and rendition of the tote bag. I was wanting to try something different and came up with this: something just as versatile as the tote bag/purse, but a little more casual. I decided to make my first flap over purse for my mother, and since she loves the southwest designs, I added the tassle/frindge to the trim of the bag. I'm pretty happy with the outcome...but my mom loves it! The flap over bag starts at $25 (plus s/h). As with any order you place, you can request any color(s), special designs, etc. Please email pinkdragonflyorders@yahoo.com to place any orders.

Mary Jane Booties
Every time a baby shower comes around, I have to whip up these adorable little sets of booties. I sell these for $5 (plus s/h) each pair. These Mary Janes make wonderful gifts for little girls and seem to always wind up being among the most popular gifts. The last 3 showers I attended, the booties ended up being past around the whole room followed by ooo's and awww's.
I made these particular booties for one of my best friends from high school, Nicole, who just had a little girl, Layla Nicole. Her chosen baby colors are brown, pink and green. I'm working on a baby blanket to match so be sure to follow up later to see it.
For little treasures of your own, here is the pattern for these booties.

Mother's Day cupcakes
I've decided to make cupcakes to give to my sister, mother, and grandmother when we all get together to visit on Mother's Day. But I wanted to practice decorating cupcakes first as I have never done them before. I whipped these strawberry cupcakes up to practice and brought them into work the next day for my team members to enjoy. The cupcakes were mostly designed in assorted flower techniques. I can't wait to start on the cupcakes for my family!

Get Well Cake
My brother-in-law, Jeramy, went in for a vasectomy so I decided to make him a "get well" cake. Jeramy can definitely take a joke so I tried to throw in a little humor on it as well. So I came up with this little diddy. It's a two layered, butter pecan 8" cake iced in buttercream frosting. Needless to say, he liked it.

Homemade Mother's Day cards
Remember the days when you used to make a card for your mom and she would hang it on the refrigerator proudly? This year,,my sister and I made my our own cards for my mother and grandmothers...with so many of them, it was worth it. Plus we figured it would be a cute way to remind them of when we were younger. Just use your scrapbooking skills to create your own cute cards for special occasions.
